Many of my friends can attest that I am a big summer movie buff. From simple pleasures like explosions, knife fights, chase scenes. to animated adventures and epics where a beloved character can throw out a catch phrase that continues your giggles through the post show credits. This summer a different kind of movie is being released by Disney called "Inside Out." It's another one of Pixar's successful formulas which introduces lovable, impossible characters with life like emotion and circumstance purposed with striking a human chord.
Sadness, Disgust, Anger, Fear, Joy.
But this blog is not about Disney, its lovable characters or its memorable movies. It's about this idea. The brain is made up of so many emotions and ticks that some times we cannot explain the way that we're feeling. We can't control it. We can sit for hours at home watching television and find ourselves completely content one day, and filled with rage the next when triggered by a pidgeon letting go a love dump on our shoulder.
Too many times we are afraid to express these emotions with our friends, but more importantly with ourselves. This can lead to painful and sometimes tragic consequences for ourselves and those we love. Honestly I don't know where I'm going with this. But I"m going to prepare ten blogs over the course of ten weeks. I've had some inspiration recently on the subject matter, and if anyone can take a bit of solace or hope from it, that would be the ultimate goal.
The point is this: Whoever you are, however you are feeling, you are not alone. Everything will pass good and bad. Whether you are fighting a life long battle, or a temporary illness, it is okay to feel the way that you are feeling. Nothing is wrong with you.
Now get up.
For a friend.
